KEYCOACH Objectives

Transversal key competences become increasingly important in view of evolving labour market but are less systematically addressed by most VET systems than they are by general education. In part this challenge relates to the education of VET teachers and trainers.

The KEYCOACH project directly addresses this issue as its overall aim is to provide VET tutors and mentors with the required abilities and knowledge so as to coach their students in acquiring, developing, maintaining and growing the soft skills related to transversal key competences.

KEYCOACH also aims at improving the quality and innovation of the VET system by training VET tutors and mentors in coaching techniques and promoting the implementation of regular coaching programmes and the creation of new trainings on key competences in soft skills for VET students.

The Training Programme to be transferred in KEYCOACH is a highly innovative training course for secondary school tutors so that they can use coaching to promote soft skills in their students.

The KEYCOACH project objectives will be reached through the collaborative work of a partnership composed by seven partners from seven different MS: Spain, Flanders (Belgium), Portugal, Lithuania, Romania, Poland and Austria. Partners include experts in coaching, VET providers, an e-learning services developer and provider and a communication expert.

Project partners will work together during 24 months following a defined workplan. In summary, AIN’s original materials will be adapted, re-arranged, translated and digitalized, in order to become the core contents of a newly designed Training Programme tailored to the identified needs of five different countries and which will be provided on an open and self-learning tool, based upon the use of ICT

The expected impacts of KEYCOACH are:

  • acquisition by VET teachers trained with the Training Programme of the skills needed to foster their students’ transversal key competences
  • improvement of quality and of innovativeness of the VET system
  • aware raising at the EU level for the need of training VET teachers in fostering transversal key competences
